Reflection/Journal Week March 8-12 |
This week is the first week of my second placement at Nichols Middle School in Canton, MS. During
this week of observation, I contrasted the differences of the fifth grade from Kindergarten. The difference in
age is profoundly significant in this matter. The students are very attentive when influenced. I do believe that this
will be a great learning experience. |
Reflection/Journal Week March 22-26 |
My second week I began to gradually intergrate myself into their classroom setting by doing lessons
and introducing new stories and grading papers. I also met and spoke with other teachers to learn and be informed on my surrounding
and what I am getting my self into. |
Reflection/Journal Week March 28-April 2 |
This week my teacher was sent to a workshop for four days. I was left with most responsibility
with help from a substitute teacher. The week went by kind of fast because the students kept me on my toes in the absence
of their teacher. |
Reflection/Journal Week April 5-8 |
This week Mrs. Taylor and I were preparing the students for their MCT test coming up in May. We
tested them on reading skills such as vocabulary, main ideas, and comparing and contrasting. Language arts skills consisted
of finding grammar errors, subject and verb agreement, and the parts of speech. The students were given a practice MCT
to show them exactly what the test in May would consist of. I did an activity to increase partcipation in class with
the parts of speech. |
Reflection/Journal Week April 12-16 |
Time sure does fly by fast. I am at my last week of student teaching. This week consisted of
more skilling for MCT and preparing bulletin boardsto show off the student's writing abilities. The students created
their on stories, some true and some not. One thing that I noticed is that the students actually care about how the
story sounds to someone else. Well,I can really say that I have enjoyed myself and I might think about returning. |
