I, Cartessia Leneice Smith , was born to Charles and Bernice Smith in Tylertown, MS on August 20, 1982.  I have one sister, Chasity Sheron Smith, one brother Charles Aaron Smith, and one nephew, Jaylen Charles Smith.    At Tylertown High School, I was very active in academic and extracurricular activities.  I graduated valedictorian of my class and was inducted into the National Honor Society.  Currently, I am a student at Alcorn State University majoring in Elementary Education. I am a member of SNEA, NAACP, Alpha Kappa MU Honor Society, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.  I hope to one day become an elementary school teacher, get a Master's in Elementary Education and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, and to one day become principal of an elementary school.  I plan to attend Mississippi College Graduate School in the Fall of 2004 while teaching.

My Educational Philosophy
In my philosophy, I believe that all children can learn.  Given the appropriate opportunities, most children can and will be taught successfully.  In my opinion, most children do need more instructional time than others for all types of reasons. I also believe that each child has his or her own way of learning and interpreting things taught to them.  To give them information is one factor, but how it is taught to them is another.  Such factors
that can affect a child's learning include their home environment, peer pressure, self-esteem, and even the teacher. All in all teaching must go on.
